CALL TO ORDER AND APPROVAL OF MINUTES

The second meeting of the Adams County School-To-Work Action Team took place February 3, 1998 in the district's five distance learning labs. All locations had members present for the meeting, for a total of twenty-five members. Andrew Culbertson called the meeting to order at 9:00 AM.

A motion to accept the minutes from the January meeting was made by Tony Staggs and seconded by David McChesney, the motion passed.

COORDINATOR'S REPORT

Gene Toole presented highlights from January including a brief update of the PR and web page committee. The web page is in transition now and is adding updated material as needed.

Mr. Hazelbaker is very appreciative of the new equipment that will assist the Action Partnership with it's PR efforts.

February 13, 1998 is the deadline for mini-grant proposals.

First State Bank is linked and serviced by PHS to the STW web page.

PHS can serve as the server.

Mr. Porter would like to discuss a strategic concept or blueprint of the Local Partnership.

OLD BUSINESS

We need volunteers for a committee to look at terms and the need for elections. If you would like to serve let Andrew Culbertson or Gene Toole know.

Planned a meeting for the PR committee. Don Bowles; Chairperson, stated that the plan is to have a monthly column.

David McFarland is the Chairperson for the Web Page committee.

NEW BUSINESS

We have one mini-grant proposal and may need to extend the deadline for applications.

The schools received a $390,000 Telecommunities Grant and want to look at the sound of the distance learning labs.

Horticulture project update; Mike Cluxton stated that land is being cleared and they would be photographing the progress.

Attendance project at MHS is doing well at 98%. Congratulations MHS.

Mr. McCarty's Industrial Technology class at PHS toured MACA Plastics, GE Test Site, C103, and First State Bank.

We would like to find a sponsor for each module, see attached.

An advisory committee would be created to oversee.

Rick Fulton provided basic information concerning the Association of Builders and Contractors and their desire to provide training in the high school. He will present further information at the March meeting.

Don Bowles suggested an inventory of the work force in Adams County as a possible mini-grant project.

A motion was made to adjourn the meeting by David McChesney and seconded by Nancy Darby, the meeting adjourned.
