MINUTES--December 1997

CALL TO ORDER AND APPROVAL OF MINUTES

The thirteenth meeting was called to order at 9:05 A.M. by Andrew Culbertson. It was announced that Mr. Boothe would like to visit Adams County on December 18, to analyze our activities. This is a very positive meeting and a major compliment to our action team. Mr. Culbertson will get additional information to anyone interested in attending. During the same day a national audit of STW will occur in Jackson. One action team was selected in Region seven to attend and Adams County was chosen.

A motion to accept the minutes by Les Bloedel and seconded by Dave McFarland. Motion carries. There were seventeen members present.

Coordinator's Report. The main effort this month was to meet with schools. All have met with the exception of Manchester and an elementary, which will occur in January, during a regular teachers meeting. Encouragement for local mini-grants was expressed to all teachers. These are due in February.

OLD BUSINESS

There were three grants submitted for the State STW continuation grants. Expansion of the Horticulture program, Industrail Technology, and Character Education was sought.

Minutes will be sent to those team members with completed membership forms on file. If someone was missed I would be happy to send a blank form to be completed as soon as possible.

Local STw web page will be discussed with Computers teacher, Bill Lewis. Committee members from the action team include Andrew Culbertston, Tony Staggs, Gene Toole, Al Porter, Dave McChesney, Don Bowles, and Dawn Countryman. A meeting is scheduled for December 15, 1997 at 8:30 A.M. at PHS.

NEW BUSINESS

January elections. Executive committee will examine the potential openings and present these to the team.

The action team is very interested in a plan for economic development for Adams County. We need a statistical analysis of our county, drive times, transportation, etc.

A motion to adjourn was made my Dave McFarland and seconded by Dave McChesney, motion passed. January meeting will be held in the distance learning lab of each High School and Vocational School.
