The final meeting of the

Adams County School to Work Committee

June 6, 2000

Attending were:

Gene Toole, David McChesney, Rick Fulton, Roy Hill, Elaine Collins, John Holden, Debbie Ryan, Suzie Childs, Karen Faust, Kathy Meade, Linda Stepp, Nancy Sauder, Sheri Stout, Roy Willman, Phil Hanna and Rob Meade.

The externship program is scheduled for June 19th thru the 21st. Gene has made arrangements for teachers to visit four local businesses.

Gene gave the final treasurers report, saying that all funds have been expended or will be shortly as the programs wrap-up.

Roy Hill indicated that this group would continue to serve as the business advisory council to the schools. A meeting was scheduled for June 14th for interested members to revise our by-laws and create a new name.

Gene was presented with a certificate of thanks, in recognition for his years of service to the schools, students and businesses as the School to Work coordinator. His new position as Peebles High School principal will keep him in the action!

The transition meeting of the School to Work Committee was June 14th.

Attending were:

Gene Toole, David McChesney, Roy Willman, Rick Fulton, Elaine Collins, Suzie Childs, Karen Faust, Charles Moore, Kathy Meade and Rob Meade.

At this meeting, it was decided that our new name will be "Adams County Business and Education Forum".

Preliminary by-laws were discussed and revisions made. The group felt it was important to have a student representative from each high school, selected through a process with student involvement.

Suzie Childs from Junior Achievement arrives and we conclude this Forum would have a standing committee to manage JA activities in the county. We discussed the JA "school store" pilot program, happening at Peebles High School in the fall. Cedar Works will sponsor and Kathy Meade will coordinate.

The next meeting would be set following appointment of the program coordinator by Roy Hill.

Note: Gene is very busy with his new duties. He asked that I send the revised bylaws (attached) to our membership. Please review for discussion at the first meeting of the Forum on Thursday, August 10th at 9:00 at any of the distance learning labs. The new coordinator will be appointed by this time.
