Adams County School-To-Work

1. INTRODUCTION

   The Adams County School-To-Work Action Partnership Executive Mini-Grant Committee is offering funding support up to $5,000 for proposals that contribute to their Strategic Plan and objectives.

   All School-To-Work stakeholders are eligible to earn awards for their ideas on how to provide students more applied applications of classroom leaning within all six major career clusters. At the minimum, each proposal must be generated and supported by a partnership of educators, business/industry and labor.

   Review the attached Adams County Alliance objectives.
   
   

   Proposals might include but are not limited to:

   • Applied leaning activities linked to workplace situations

   • Thematic units of instruction linked to workplace situations

   • Work simulations that create products cooperatively

   • Forming leaning partnerships with local businesses

   • Career exploration experiences a the community

   • Expansion and/or new programming using existing School-To-Work activities see attachment)

   • Mentorship/shadowing for students and/or teachers

   • STW activities that emphasize connection within the district and collaboration among teachers

   • Other innovative School-To-Work activities that are consistent with the STW mission and include the basic elements.

2. FIRST STEP:

   Please query the Alliance about your proposal by submitting a 1-2 page pre-proposal describing the following:

   • Basic Objectives

   • Operational procedures

   • Time Schedules

   • Personnel/Partnership Resources Needed and Available

   • Budget Resources Needed and Available

   A few funding and grant guidelines:

   1. Classroom and/or grade level projects me encouraged as well as wider collaborative projects.

   2. The number and size of individual awards will be determined primarily by the quality of the ideas submitted. The maximum award size for mini-grants is $5,000. For these grants there is no automatic distribution per school or limit to the number of grants per school.

   3. While no matching cash is required, in-kind contributions particularly in professional time and access to facilities is strongly encouraged.

   4. Salaries for direct hire are seldom approved. Substitute stipends and purchased services from individuals can be approved if they are essential to accomplishing project goals.

   The Adams County Alliance Executive Committee will review all proposals Grant awards will be announced within 30 days. Upon announcement of the awards the fiscal agent (Adams County/Ohio Valley Local Schools) will flow funds.
   
   

   NOTE. In writing your proposals please be brief, clear, and succinct. We are looking for substantive, sound ideas not jargon.
