News Release Students Attend Enterprise ‘99 Workshop
|
On March 31st and April 1st twenty students from the Ohio Valley Vocational School participated in Enterprise ‘99, a workshop on entrepreneurial skills held at Shawnee Lodge. The two-day workshop was devoted entirely to providing the students with the information and skills needed to start their own businesses.
On the first day of the workshop, students were given information on what it takes to be an entrepreneur, how to create a business idea, and how to turn an idea into a business. During the second day of the workshop, students were divided into teams, chose a business idea, and wrote a workable business plan for their business. Then, each team made a short presentation on their business idea to a panel of six local business people, who chose the team with the best idea. The winning team members were awarded an American Eagle silver dollar donated by the first state bank. Funding for the workshop was through a grant from the Adams County School-to-Work action partnership. Tad Mitchell, applied math instructor, and Russ Brewer, occupational work experience coordinator, served as the facilitators for the workshop and also as chaperones for the overnight stay. |
