I am married to Wayne Smalley and live in the Peebles attendance area. We have four children and eight grandchildren. I was graduated from Seaman High School in 1969. Four years later, I graduated cum laude from The University of Cincinnati with a BS in counseling social work. After my three daughters were in school, I returned to college to earn a teaching certificate from Xavier University. After teaching eighteen years, I believed I could have a greater positive impact on more students as a school administrator. I earned an elementary principal, high school principal and superintendent certificates from the University of Dayton. I served as assistant principal and principal at West Union Elementary for five years.

This is my 25th year in education and seventh year at PHS. I started teaching full time with second grade students at Jefferson Elementary in 1985. That was a wonderful experience that changed my life forever. I am often reminded of why I chose education as my career field as I look into the eyes of a student and recognize the potential within. I teach students to have a positive attitude, be determined, and work hard to reach their goals. All students can succeed if they believe in themselves and are given an opportunity to learn.

My favorite high school classes were Biology, Language Arts V, and Cultural Geography.

My career goal was always to work with children.

My hobbies include flower gardening and antiquing.

My favorite quote is "the best vitamin for making friends: B1"
